Quick answer

Christchurch hotel rates for November 2026 are steady midweek: the market middle was NZ$294 on Wed 4 Nov, NZ$283 on Thu 5 Nov and NZ$286 on both Tue 10 and Wed 11 Nov (captured 5–12 Oct). No Friday was captured. Only 37.1% of 151 paired hotels held the same rate from Tue 10 to Wed 11 Nov, so hotels set each midweek night individually.

Christchurch is the steadiest large market in our November captures. Four midweek stay dates, roughly 200 properties each, and a market middle that never left the NZ$283–NZ$294 range.

This read covers what Christchurch hotels are asking midweek, how tightly they agree on price, how often the same hotel holds one rate across midweek nights, and where short-term rentals fit. One gap up front: we did not capture a Friday or Saturday in the city-wide search, so this post makes no weekend claim from it.

What are Christchurch hotels asking for November 2026?

Four midweek nights were captured, each returning about 200 properties with a rate, which is the search cap. Across all four captures, 322 different properties appeared. That is the largest count among the New Zealand towns in our 19-town November 2026 roundup, but remember it is what a capped, price-sorted search returned, not the size of the city. Our read of hotel rates across all 48 Australian and NZ markets sets Christchurch beside the Australian cities too.

Market Pulse Basic, Christchurch. Same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer on the public OTA search; refund and board unknown.

The spread is tight for a city this size. On Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct) the middle 50% ran from NZ$210 to NZ$360, a band about half as wide as the middle itself (52.4%). In Auckland the same band on the same night was 76.7% of the middle. Christchurch hotels agree on price more than Auckland's do, which usually means a more uniform stock and guest mix.

How to read these numbers

Market Pulse Basic reads the public OTA search for one stay date at a time, on the same search basis (1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown). The market middle is the median of the properties returned with a rate that night, and we only publish it when 15 or more are priced. The middle 50% runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Each stay date was captured once, so every figure is a rate level on its capture date, not a trend. The search is price-sorted and capped at 200 properties, so the count of properties returned is not the size of the market.

Do Christchurch hotels hold the same rate across midweek nights?

Less often than most of the region. Of 151 hotels priced on both Tue 10 Nov and Wed 11 Nov (captured one day apart, 11 and 12 Oct), 56 (37.1%) had identical rates and 82 (54.3%) were within 2%. Forty lifted Wednesday by more than 2% and 29 lowered it. Across 41 markets, 1,870 of 2,894 paired hotels (64.6%) priced Tuesday and Wednesday the same, so Christchurch hotels set each midweek night more individually than the region does.

The earlier midweek nights tell a similar story. Comparing each hotel with itself:

Pair (each hotel vs its own Tue 10 Nov)PairsHigher >2%Within 2%Lower >2%
Wed 4 Nov (captured 5 Oct)124383452
Thu 5 Nov (captured 6 Oct)127304354
Wed 11 Nov (captured 12 Oct)151408229

Tue 10 Nov captured 11 Oct. The Wed 4 and Thu 5 pairs were captured six and five days apart, so treat them as preview basis.

In each pair the median hotel's own difference was 0%, so the typical Christchurch hotel asked the same for all four midweek nights. Yet more than four in ten hotels priced Wed 4 Nov and Thu 5 Nov more than 2% below their own Tue 10 Nov rate. That is consistent with a market that sets rates night by night, not with one fixed weekday rate.

Why is there no Friday read for Christchurch?

Because a Friday read needs a Friday capture, and the Market Pulse run for Christchurch did not include Fri 6 Nov or Sat 7 Nov. We will not infer a weekend premium from midweek nights. We also do not publish weekend figures from small fixed hotel sets: our rule is to publish market figures only from sets of 15 or more properties. The best weekend guide for a Christchurch GM is your own Friday and Saturday pickup set against your own Tuesday.

Where short-term rentals fit

Short-term rentals are a separate market, often whole homes with cleaning fees and minimum stays, so they are not included in these hotel figures and are never a hotel comp set or a rate target. For the longer hotel picture, see our Christchurch hotel market analysis for June to September 2026.

RevPARGenius Take

Christchurch is a steady market where hotels still set each midweek night on its own.

Midweek rates sit in a tight band around NZ$283–NZ$294, yet only 37.1% of paired hotels held the same rate from Tue 10 to Wed 11 Nov. If your calendar holds one weekday rate for weeks at a time, check whether that is a choice or a default.

What should a Christchurch GM do this week?

  1. Place your midweek rate in the band. On Tue 10 Nov the middle 50% ran from NZ$210 to NZ$360 around a NZ$286 middle. Note where your own rate for that night sits and whether that matches your product.
  2. Compare your own Tuesday and Wednesday. Only 37.1% of 151 paired hotels held the same rate across Tue 10 and Wed 11 Nov. If yours are identical, check whether your own pickup on those nights is identical too.
  3. Capture your own weekend. We have no city-wide Friday for Christchurch. Pull your own Fri and Sat against Tue for the next six weeks and decide if your weekend shape is a choice.
  4. Run the break-even before any lift. Break-even occupancy = your current occupancy × current rate ÷ target rate, using your own PMS numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the market middle for Christchurch hotels in November 2026?

The market middle was NZ$294 on Wed 4 Nov, NZ$283 on Thu 5 Nov, and NZ$286 on both Tue 10 Nov and Wed 11 Nov, captured between 5 and 12 Oct 2026. It is the median of properties returned with a rate on the public OTA search, 1 night, 2 adults, cheapest offer.

Do Christchurch hotels charge more on weekends?

We did not capture a Friday or Saturday in the city-wide search, so we cannot say for the city, and we do not publish weekend figures from fixed hotel sets of fewer than 15 properties. Compare your own Friday and Saturday with your own Tuesday to see your weekend shape.

Do Christchurch hotels price Tuesday and Wednesday the same?

Less often than most of the region. Of 151 hotels priced on both Tue 10 and Wed 11 Nov (captured 11 and 12 Oct), 56 (37.1%) had identical rates. Across 41 markets, 1,870 of 2,894 paired hotels (64.6%) priced the two nights the same.

How tight is the Christchurch hotel price spread?

On Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct) the middle 50% ran from NZ$210 to NZ$360, a band about 52% as wide as the NZ$286 middle. Auckland's band on the same night was about 77% of its middle, so Christchurch hotels agree on price more closely.

Are short-term rentals included in these figures?

No. These figures cover hotels and similar properties returned in a public OTA search. Short-term rentals are a separate market and are never used as a hotel comp set or a rate target.

Research methodology and disclosures: Market figures in this article are calculated by RevPARGenius from room rates publicly displayed on online travel agency (OTA) channels, on one search basis (1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer shown). We publish a market figure only where at least 15 properties were priced. The figures are advertised asking prices. They do not show occupancy, bookings, negotiated corporate rates or revenue achieved. Worked examples marked as synthetic use invented data. This article is general information, not pricing advice: each hotel sets its own rates independently. RevPARGenius and CloseMode are commercially affiliated platforms.
