Hotelier Guide · May 2026 · RevParGenius Intelligence · Last reviewed May 2026
RevPARGenius measures hotel AI visibility by asking four live AI engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok — the real questions travellers use, several times a week. Each answer is parsed to record whether your hotel was mentioned, in what position, with what sentiment, and which sources were cited. Those signals roll up into a 0–100 visibility score, benchmarked against your competitors. It's a repeatable, transparent measurement — not a one-off guess.
"Are we visible to AI?" is only a useful question if the answer is measured the same way every time. Here's exactly how RevPARGenius does it — so you can trust the number and see what moves it.
The method has four steps: define the prompts, query the engines, parse the answers, and score the result. Each is designed to be consistent and repeatable, because a visibility number is only meaningful as a trend.
The method at a glance
Step 1 — Define the prompts
We track the questions guests actually ask an assistant — "best boutique hotels in [city]," "where to stay in [city] for couples," "luxury hotels near [landmark]" — tailored to your market and guest segments. These are buyer-intent prompts, not corporate keywords, because they reflect the moment a traveller is choosing where to book.
Step 2 — Query the engines live
Each prompt is sent to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok through their live, web-connected modes — the same way a traveller would experience them today, not a stale snapshot. Because each engine retrieves from a different source (ChatGPT via Bing, Perplexity in real time, Gemini grounded in Google), querying all four shows the full picture rather than one engine's view.
AI answers shift as models update and competitors move. A single check is a snapshot; a repeated check is a trend. Three times a week is frequent enough to catch a drop quickly without spending on noise.
Step 3 — Parse every answer
Each raw answer is analysed to extract four things: whether your hotel was named (a deterministic name-match, not a guess), the position it appeared in, the sentiment of how it was described, and the sources the engine cited. Competitor mentions are extracted the same way, so every answer becomes structured, comparable data instead of a wall of text.
Step 4 — Score it 0–100
The visibility score is led by your mention rate — how often you're named across all prompts and engines — and adjusted by position and sentiment, so being named first and described well counts for more than a buried, lukewarm mention. The result is a single number you can track over time and compare against your comp set, plus recommended actions for the gaps.
Because the prompts, engines and scoring stay consistent run to run, the trend line is honest: a change in your score reflects a real change in how AI sees you, not a change in how we measured.
RevParGenius Take
Trustworthy measurement is repeatable measurement. Same prompts, same engines, same scoring — run after run — so the trend means something.
That discipline is the difference between "I asked ChatGPT once and panicked" and a real signal you can act on and re-measure.
Frequently asked questions
How is the visibility score calculated?
It's led by your mention rate — how often AI names your hotel across all tracked prompts and engines — then adjusted for position (where you appear) and sentiment (how you're described), producing a single 0–100 figure you can track over time.
Are the engines queried live or from a saved snapshot?
Live. Each prompt is run against the engines' current, web-connected modes, several times a week — so the result reflects what a traveller would actually see today, not a cached answer.
Why track four engines instead of just ChatGPT?
Each engine retrieves from a different source, so they recommend different hotels. Tracking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok shows your true coverage instead of one engine's slice of it.
