Gold Coast hotels charge a clear weekend premium in November 2026. On Friday 6 November (captured 7 October), the market middle was A$363, against A$301 on Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October), and the median hotel priced its own Friday +30.8% above its own Tuesday.
This post covers the rate level and spread on three November nights, the Friday premium hotel by hotel, and a break-even check before you change a Friday rate. All rates use the same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown.
The Gold Coast weekend premium for November 2026 starts with a strong Friday: the market middle was A$363 on Friday 6 November (captured 7 October) and A$301 on Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October). Hotel by hotel, the median Friday premium was +30.8%, with 96 of 116 hotels lifting Friday by more than 2%.
What are Gold Coast hotels asking for November nights?
On Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October), the Gold Coast search returned 200 properties with a public rate. The market middle was A$301 and the middle 50% ran A$205 to A$409. On Wednesday 11 November (captured 12 October), 198 were returned, with a middle of A$291 and a middle 50% of A$212 to A$404. On Friday 6 November (captured 7 October), 179 were returned, with a middle of A$363 and a middle 50% of A$254 to A$551. The same nights are set out for every other market in our read of rates across all 48 Australian and NZ markets.
| Night (capture date) | Properties returned | Market middle | Middle 50% | Band width vs middle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Friday 6 November (captured 7 October) | 179 | A$363 | A$254 to A$551 | 81.8% |
| Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October) | 200 | A$301 | A$205 to A$409 | 67.8% |
| Wednesday 11 November (captured 12 October) | 198 | A$291 | A$212 to A$404 | 66.0% |
Market Pulse Basic, Gold Coast. public OTA search, same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown. A price-sorted search capped at 200; the count is properties returned, not the size of the market.
Two things stand out. First, the Friday band is wider: its middle 50% spans 81.8% of the middle, against 67.8% on Tuesday. Hotels agree less about Friday. Second, fewer properties came back with a rate on Friday (179) than on Tuesday (200). A missing rate means no public rate on that search. It does not mean the hotel was full.
Across the three nights, 283 unique properties appeared at least once. That is still a sample from a capped search, not a census of Gold Coast accommodation.
How large is the Gold Coast weekend premium?
Measured hotel by hotel, the Gold Coast Friday premium is +30.8%. That is the median of each hotel's own Friday 6 November rate against its own Tuesday 10 November rate, across 116 properties priced on both nights. It is a Friday-to-Tuesday comparison, captured four days apart (preview basis): Friday captured 7 October, Tuesday captured 11 October.
96 of the 116 hotels (82.8%) priced Friday more than 2% above Tuesday. Only 15 (12.9%) held within 2%, and just 5 (4.3%) priced Friday lower. Of the 27 Australian and New Zealand markets where Friday could be paired with Tuesday, only Townsville's median was higher.
A hotel-by-hotel median like this is a better guide than a gap between two market middles, because each hotel is compared only with itself. A ratio of market middles can move simply because a different mix of properties returned a rate on each night. If your own Friday 6 November rate equals your Tuesday 10 November rate, you are in a group of 15 out of 116. That can be the right call for a property with a weekday base. If it isn't deliberate, the question is how early your Fridays fill.
What does a Friday change do to your revenue?
We don't know your occupancy, so this post won't put a dollar figure on it. The check is break-even occupancy: your occupancy × your current rate ÷ the new rate. Above that occupancy, the higher Friday rate brings in the same or more room revenue. Our break-even occupancy check sets out the method in full.
| Rate step | Your break-even occupancy | Worked example at 93.2% (synthetic data) |
|---|---|---|
| +30.8% | your occupancy ÷ 1.308 | 71.3% |
| +15.0% | your occupancy ÷ 1.15 | 81.0% |
Break-even = occupancy × current rate ÷ new rate, which equals occupancy ÷ (1 + rate step). The last column is a worked example (synthetic data): a fictional 40-cabin NZ holiday park at 93.2% occupancy over 90 nights; it is not a real property or market data. Use your own occupancy for the middle column.
A full Friday is not the same as a well-priced Friday. If your Fridays fill weeks ahead at your Tuesday rate, that may mean the last rooms sell early. Your pickup report shows it, and the market can only suggest it. If your last Friday rooms are gone a fortnight out, the guests who would have booked late never see a rate at all. If your Fridays still have rooms on the day, a higher rate may only widen that gap. The same break-even check works for any rate step: divide your occupancy by one plus the step, then compare the answer with the Friday occupancy your own history says you can hold.
RevPARGenius Take
The Gold Coast prices its weekend hard: the median hotel's own Friday premium is +30.8% (Fri 6 vs Tue 10 Nov, captured 7 and 11 Oct), and 96 of 116 hotels lifted Friday.
Only 15 of the 116 hotels held Friday within 2% of Tuesday. A Gold Coast hotel holding Friday at its Tuesday rate is an outlier here, which is worth checking against its own pickup.
What should a Gold Coast GM do this week?
Keep it practical. Each of these takes minutes in your extranet and PMS.
- Compare your own Friday 6 and Tuesday 10 November rates. Work out Friday ÷ Tuesday − 1 and set it beside the market median of +30.8%.
- Check Thursday. Look at your own Thursday pickup before treating it as a weekday rather than an early weekend night.
- Review your own Christmas run (24 to 27 December) now, against your own pickup for those nights.
- Pull the last eight Fridays from your PMS and note how many days out the final rooms sold.
- Run the break-even table with your real Friday occupancy before you change anything, and log the change and its date.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Gold Coast weekend premium the highest in Australia?
Among the 27 AU and NZ markets where we paired Friday 6 November with Tuesday 10 November, the Gold Coast median of +30.8% was second only to Townsville. That comparison is a one-Friday, one-Tuesday preview basis captured four days apart, so treat it as a strong signal rather than a fixed ranking.
How wide is the Gold Coast rate spread on a November Friday?
On Friday 6 November (captured 7 October), the middle 50% of properties returned ran A$254 to A$551, a band 81.8% of the A$363 market middle. On Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October) the band was 67.8% of the middle, so hotels agree less about Friday.
Does a missing Friday rate mean Gold Coast hotels were full?
No. A property with no public rate on the search may be closed to that stay, restricted by minimum stay, or not shown for that search basis. We record it as no public rate and make no assumption about occupancy.
How many Gold Coast hotels priced Friday the same as Tuesday?
Of the 116 hotels priced on both Friday 6 and Tuesday 10 November, 15 (12.9%) held Friday within 2% of Tuesday. 96 (82.8%) priced Friday more than 2% higher, and 5 (4.3%) priced it lower.
Should I copy the Gold Coast median Friday premium?
Use it as a reference, not a target. The right Friday rate depends on your own occupancy, how early Fridays fill and who your guests are. Run the break-even check with your own numbers first.
If you want the same Friday and weekend read for your own Gold Coast comp set, night by night with both rates shown, RevPARGenius builds it from public rates.

Research methodology and disclosures: Market figures in this article are calculated by RevPARGenius from room rates publicly displayed on online travel agency (OTA) channels, on one search basis (1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer shown). We publish a market figure only where at least 15 properties were priced. The figures are advertised asking prices. They do not show occupancy, bookings, negotiated corporate rates or revenue achieved. Worked examples marked as synthetic use invented data.
