Marlborough hotel rates for November 2026 are flat across the week: the market middle was NZ$195 for Fri 6 Nov (captured 7 Oct) and NZ$196 for Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct). Of 101 hotels priced on both nights, 66 kept Friday within 2% of their own Tuesday, and 65 were identical. Blenheim, a smaller search inside the region, leans slightly more towards a Friday lift.
Across the Marlborough region, Friday and Tuesday are priced the same. The market middle differs by a dollar, and two in three hotels hold Friday within 2% of their own Tuesday.
This post covers two overlapping searches: the Marlborough region and the town of Blenheim. Blenheim's properties sit inside the Marlborough search, so the two are views of the same area at different zoom levels, never totals to add together. We look at rate level, spread, Friday and midweek behaviour in each.
What are Marlborough hotels asking for November 2026?
Three stay dates were captured for the Marlborough region search. Between 106 and 147 properties returned a rate each night, and 158 different properties appeared across the three captures.
| Stay night | Captured | Priced | Market middle | Middle 50% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fri 6 Nov | 7 Oct | 106 | NZ$195 | NZ$151–NZ$323 |
| Tue 10 Nov | 11 Oct | 147 | NZ$196 | NZ$152–NZ$286 |
| Wed 11 Nov | 12 Oct | 135 | NZ$190 | NZ$148–NZ$270 |
Market Pulse Basic, Marlborough region. Same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer on the public OTA search; refund and board unknown.
The middle holds at NZ$190 to NZ$196 and the bottom of the band at about NZ$150 on every night. The top of the band moves: NZ$323 on Friday against NZ$286 on Tuesday and NZ$270 on Wednesday. So on Friday the upper quarter of the region prices higher, even though the middle does not. For how Marlborough compares with other towns, see our New Zealand hotel rates for November 2026 across 19 towns. For both countries in one view, see rates across all 48 Australian and NZ markets.
Friday also returned fewer properties with a rate: 106, against 147 on Tuesday. We do not know why. Some properties may show no public rate for Friday because of minimum stays or channel settings, and a price-sorted search can rank differently on the capture day. A missing rate is no public rate, not a sign the property is full.
Market Pulse Basic reads the public OTA search for one stay date at a time, on the same search basis (1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown). The market middle is the median of the properties returned with a rate that night, and we only quote it when 5 or more are priced. The middle 50% runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Each stay date was captured once, so every figure is a rate level on its capture date, not a trend. The search is price-sorted and capped at 200 properties, so the count of properties returned is not the size of the market.
Do Marlborough hotels charge more on Friday?
Mostly not. We compared the 101 hotels priced on both Fri 6 Nov and Tue 10 Nov, each against its own Tuesday rate. This is a Friday-to-Tuesday comparison, captured four days apart (preview basis).
| Friday vs own Tuesday | Marlborough region | Blenheim town |
|---|---|---|
| Paired hotels | 101 | 30 |
| Lifted by more than 2% | 23 (22.8%) | 12 (40.0%) |
| Within 2% | 66 (65.3%) | 17 (56.7%) |
| of which identical | 65 (64.4%) | 16 (53.3%) |
| Lowered by more than 2% | 12 (11.9%) | 1 (3.3%) |
| Median own Friday premium | 0% | 0% |
Fri 6 Nov (captured 7 Oct) vs Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct). Blenheim's properties are inside the Marlborough search, so do not add the columns. Blenheim's 30 pairs are a thin base.
Across the region, 65 of 101 hotels priced Friday identically to Tuesday. Only 23 lifted it by more than 2%. Across 27 markets, 733 of 1,707 paired hotels (42.9%) lifted Friday, so Marlborough's 22.8% is well below the regional share. In plain terms, most Marlborough properties run one rate for the week.
Blenheim leans the other way, slightly. Of 30 paired hotels in the town search, 12 lifted Friday by more than 2% and only one lowered it. With 30 pairs, that difference rests on a handful of hotels, so read it as a hint, not a finding. It may be that town-centre properties see a different Friday guest from those spread across the wider region.
How do Blenheim's rates compare with the wider region?
The Blenheim town search returned fewer properties, between 31 and 60 a night, and 63 different properties across the three captures.
| Stay night | Captured | Priced | Market middle | Middle 50% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fri 6 Nov | 7 Oct | 31 | NZ$178 | NZ$155–NZ$409 |
| Tue 10 Nov | 11 Oct | 60 | NZ$211 | NZ$152–NZ$305 |
| Wed 11 Nov | 12 Oct | 49 | NZ$172 | NZ$152–NZ$224 |
Market Pulse Basic, Blenheim. Same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer on the public OTA search; refund and board unknown.
Blenheim's middle swings more than the region's: NZ$178 on Friday, NZ$211 on Tuesday and NZ$172 on Wednesday. That is mostly the mix. With 31 to 60 properties priced, a few more or fewer at the top of the list moves the middle by tens of dollars, even though the median paired hotel did not change its rate. On Friday, the top of the band reached NZ$409 with only 31 properties priced, which means the upper quarter is about eight properties. A small market middle needs to be read with care. Our Northland and central New Zealand roundup applies the same caution to nine other smaller towns.
Blenheim is a town search inside the Marlborough region search. A Blenheim property will usually appear in both, so never add the two counts or treat them as separate markets. Use the region for the broad level and Blenheim for the town-centre view, and remember that a smaller search moves more on mix alone.
Do Marlborough hotels hold the same rate midweek?
Very much so. Of 127 hotels priced on both Tue 10 Nov and Wed 11 Nov in the region search (captured 11 and 12 Oct), 97 (76.4%) had identical rates and 101 (79.5%) were within 2%. Only 17 lifted Wednesday and 9 lowered it. In Blenheim, 31 of 47 paired hotels (66.0%) were identical.
Across 41 markets, 1,870 of 2,894 paired hotels (64.6%) priced Tuesday and Wednesday the same, so Marlborough is one of the steadier markets in the region. Our Tuesday and Wednesday same-rate analysis shows where Marlborough sits in that list.
Is a flat week the right pattern for Marlborough?
It can be. A flat rate across the week works when your occupancy is flat across the week, when your guests are mostly travelling for work or touring by car, and when your rooms do not fill earlier on Fridays than on Tuesdays. It is a weaker choice if your Fridays and Saturdays fill weeks ahead while your Tuesdays fill late, because then the last weekend rooms sell at the same price as a quiet weekday.
The test is your own pickup. Before you change anything, run the break-even question with your own numbers: break-even occupancy = current occupancy × current rate ÷ target rate. If a modest Friday lift would only need you to keep a few fewer guests in a hundred, the risk is small. We do not assume an occupancy for you; your PMS has the real one.
RevPARGenius Take
Marlborough runs one rate for the week, and that is a deliberate-looking market, not a sleepy one.
Two in three hotels hold Friday level with Tuesday and three in four hold Tuesday and Wednesday identical. If your Fridays fill earlier than your weekdays, a flat rate may mean the last rooms sell early. If they do not, the flat week may be exactly right.
What should a Marlborough GM do this week?
- Find out which group you are in. Compare your own Fri 6 Nov and Tue 10 Nov rates. Are you with the 66 that hold Friday level, or the 23 that lift it?
- Check your Friday pickup. Pull the last six Fridays and Tuesdays and compare how many days before arrival each filled.
- Use the right search. If you are in Blenheim's town centre, compare yourself with the Blenheim view; if you are on a vineyard road or in the Sounds, use the region.
- Look at your Friday top quarter. The region's upper band reached NZ$323 on Friday against NZ$286 on Tuesday (captured October). If you are a premium property, check your Friday against that upper band.
- Run the break-even before any lift, using your own occupancy.
Frequently asked questions
What is the market middle for Marlborough hotels in November 2026?
In the Marlborough region search, the market middle was NZ$195 for Fri 6 Nov (captured 7 Oct), NZ$196 for Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct) and NZ$190 for Wed 11 Nov (captured 12 Oct). It is the median of properties returned with a rate on the public OTA search, 1 night, 2 adults, cheapest offer.
Do Marlborough hotels charge more on Friday?
Mostly not. Of 101 hotels priced on both Fri 6 Nov and Tue 10 Nov, 66 kept Friday within 2% of their own Tuesday, 23 lifted it by more than 2% and 12 lowered it. The median hotel's own Friday premium was 0% (preview basis).
Are Blenheim hotel rates different from the Marlborough region?
Blenheim's market middle was NZ$178 on Fri 6 Nov, NZ$211 on Tue 10 Nov and NZ$172 on Wed 11 Nov. It swings more because fewer properties are priced, between 31 and 60 a night. Blenheim sits inside the Marlborough search, so the two are not separate markets.
Why is the Blenheim market middle so changeable?
With 31 to 60 properties priced, a few properties more or fewer at the top of the list can move the middle by tens of dollars. The median paired hotel did not change its rate between those nights, so the swing is mostly the mix.
Is a flat weekly rate a mistake for a Marlborough motel?
Not necessarily. A flat rate suits a property whose occupancy and booking pace are similar across the week. If Fridays fill much earlier than Tuesdays, test a small Friday lift after checking break-even occupancy.
RevPARGenius shows your nightly rates against the Marlborough or Blenheim properties you choose, so you can see whether a flat week is a choice or a habit.
