Wide shot of a quiet regional Queensland main street at golden hour with a classic country motel sign and jacaranda trees in bloom

Regional Queensland hotel rates in November 2026 are steady and mostly flat across the week. In all 5 towns with a Friday pair, the median hotel priced Friday 6 November the same as Tuesday 10 November.

This post covers seven towns: Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Agnes Water. It shows level, spread and Friday behaviour, with small-sample flags. All rates use the same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown.

Quick answer

Market Pulse Basic. public OTA search, same search basis: 1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer; refund and board unknown. Middle shown only where 15 or more properties were priced; fewer than 30 priced is marked as a small sample. Counts are properties returned, not the size of each market. Rockhampton had no Tuesday capture.

These are small markets. Only Toowoomba and Rockhampton returned 40 or more priced properties on every captured night, and 3 of the seven towns returned fewer than 30 on Wednesday 11 November. Read each middle as a guide to the level, with the sample size beside it.

Rockhampton was captured on Friday 6 and Wednesday 11 November only, so it has no Tuesday comparison. Its middle was A$158 on Friday (captured 7 October) and A$162 on Wednesday (captured 12 October).

Do regional Queensland towns charge more on Friday?

Mostly not. In the 5 towns where hotels could be paired with themselves across Friday 6 and Tuesday 10 November, the median hotel's own Friday premium was 0.0% in every one. Pooled across those towns, 104 of 158 hotels (65.8%) stayed within 2% of Tuesday, 26 (16.5%) lifted Friday, and 28 (17.7%) priced it lower. This is a Friday-to-Tuesday comparison, captured four days apart (preview basis).

Same-hotel comparison of Fri 6 Nov (captured 7 Oct) with Tue 10 Nov (captured 11 Oct). Pairs under 30 are small samples. Stanthorpe and Rockhampton have no Friday pair.

Bundaberg is the one town where more hotels priced Friday below Tuesday (11) than above it (2), from a small sample of 26 pairs. Toowoomba has the largest group lifting Friday, 13 of 54, but the median there is still 0.0%.

Compare the coast. Brisbane's median hotel lifted Friday by +15.2% and the Gold Coast's by +30.8% on the same nights. The full ranking is in the Queensland Friday premium map by town. Inland and regional towns in this round price Friday like a weekday. Rate levels for every market sit in our read of rates across all 48 Australian and NZ markets.

Why are Bundaberg and Rockhampton rates so tightly bunched?

On Wednesday 11 November (captured 12 October), Bundaberg's middle 50% ran A$137 to A$171, only 22.7% of its middle. That is the narrowest band of all 48 AU and NZ markets in this round. Rockhampton's ran A$144 to A$193 (30.2%), also among the narrowest.

A narrow band means most properties ask nearly the same price for a similar product. In that kind of market, a property even a little above the middle stands out on a price-sorted list, and one a little below may give away rate it didn't need to. Position matters more when everyone is close together.

Gladstone is less bunched than you might expect. Its middle was A$143 on Wednesday 11 November, but the middle 50% ran A$110 to A$196, a width of 60.1%. Its Friday band (captured 7 October) was narrower at A$110 to A$170. The town mixes very different properties in one search, so check your position within the band, not just against the middle.

At the other end, Hervey Bay has the widest Wednesday band of these seven towns, at A$131 to A$251 (77.4%), and Agnes Water is close behind at A$148 to A$282 (74.0%). On Friday 6 November, Agnes Water's band stretched to A$139 to A$449, from a small sample of 26 properties.

Which regional towns need a small-sample warning?

Stanthorpe returned 15 priced properties on Friday 6 November and 26 on Tuesday 10 November, with no Friday pair. Agnes Water, Bundaberg, Gladstone and Hervey Bay each sit near or below 30 on at least one night. For any town under 30, one or two properties changing price can move the middle noticeably.

In a market this small, your own data counts for more than the market middle. Your occupancy, your pickup and your direct enquiries will tell you more than a middle drawn from fewer than 30 properties. We do not publish figures for any town or night with fewer than 15 priced properties.

Do regional Queensland hotels change rate midweek?

Rarely. Across the 6 towns with a Tuesday and Wednesday pair, 169 of 208 hotels (81.2%) had identical rates on Tuesday 10 November (captured 11 October) and Wednesday 11 November (captured 12 October). Stanthorpe was the most uniform at 24 of 26, and Gladstone had 27 of 31.

Across all 41 AU and NZ markets, the share was 64.6%. Regional Queensland is steadier than AU and NZ as a whole in that respect, which fits the flat Fridays. Many properties here appear to hold one rate across most of the week. For the larger northern towns, see the Townsville and Mackay November read.

What would a small rate step do to revenue?

We don't know your occupancy, so we give break-even rather than dollars. Break-even occupancy = your current occupancy × your current rate ÷ the new rate. Above that occupancy, the higher rate earns the same or more room revenue.

Rate stepYour break-even occupancyWorked example at 93.2% (synthetic data)
+5.0%your occupancy ÷ 1.0588.8%
+10.0%your occupancy ÷ 1.184.7%

Break-even = occupancy × current rate ÷ new rate, which equals occupancy ÷ (1 + rate step). The last column is a worked example (synthetic data): a fictional 40-cabin NZ holiday park at 93.2% occupancy over 90 nights; it is not a real property or market data. Use your own occupancy for the middle column.

For a regional motel with loyal regulars, the question is which nights can carry a small step without losing them. Our guide to motel dynamic pricing without losing regulars covers that trade-off in practice.

RevPARGenius Take

Regional Queensland prices Friday like a weekday: the median hotel's own Friday premium was 0.0% in all 5 paired towns, and 104 of 158 hotels held Friday 6 November within 2% of Tuesday 10 November (captured 7 and 11 October).

Bundaberg has the narrowest rate band of all 48 AU and NZ markets in this round, Agnes Water and Hervey Bay the widest of these seven towns, and several towns are small samples. Position within the band, and lean on your own data.

What to do this week in regional Queensland

Five quick checks.

  1. Find your town in the table and place your own Wednesday 11 November rate inside its middle 50%.
  2. Compare your own Friday 6 and Tuesday 10 November rates; if they match, check whether your Fridays fill earlier than your Tuesdays.
  3. In Bundaberg or Rockhampton, check where you sit on a price-sorted search, since small differences show more in a tight band.
  4. In small-sample towns, weigh your own pickup and enquiries above the market middle.
  5. Run the break-even table with your real occupancy before any change, and log the date.

Frequently asked questions

What do hotels cost in regional Queensland in November 2026?

Across the seven towns and three nights we captured, market middles ran from A$135 to A$220 a night. On Wednesday 11 November (captured 12 October), the middle ranged from A$143 in Gladstone to A$195 in Stanthorpe, the latter from a small sample.

Do Toowoomba hotels charge more on weekends?

Not the typical one. Comparing Friday 6 with Tuesday 10 November, the median Toowoomba hotel's own Friday premium was 0.0%. 13 of 54 paired hotels lifted Friday by more than 2%.

Which regional Queensland town has the most consistent hotel rates?

Bundaberg. Its middle 50% on Wednesday 11 November was 22.7% of the middle, the narrowest of all 48 AU and NZ markets in this round. Rockhampton was also among the narrowest.

Why is there no Friday figure for Stanthorpe?

It had no same-hotel Friday pair in this data, and it returned small numbers of priced properties: 15 on Friday 6 November and 26 on Tuesday 10 November. Without a pair, we do not estimate a Friday premium.

Is a small sample still useful for pricing?

Yes, for scale. A middle from fewer than 30 properties tells you the rough level, but one or two properties can move it. In small towns, your own occupancy and pickup should carry more weight.

Research methodology and disclosures: Market figures in this article are calculated by RevPARGenius from room rates publicly displayed on online travel agency (OTA) channels, on one search basis (1 night, 2 adults, 1 room, cheapest offer shown). We publish a market figure only where at least 15 properties were priced. The figures are advertised asking prices. They do not show occupancy, bookings, negotiated corporate rates or revenue achieved. Worked examples marked as synthetic use invented data.
